Henry receives a blessing

Yesterday we did the priesthood blessing for Henry, making him a child of record in the church. Normally it is done for very young babies in front of the congregation on the first Sunday of the month, what is called a Fast and Testimony meeting. I didn't feel that Henry could remain composed so we elected to do it in the Bishop's office. My friend Kelly and his wife Kay drove up from their home to help. Everything went really well. I waited until I got Henry's name officially changed to Henry Ðức and got his birthdate amended so that the church records would conform with the new data.

Henry does well in the church nursery. The teacher said he particpates in the songs (most of which involve some kind of hand movement). He always claps at the end of songs. When I first started taking him to church he was unsure about staying, but now he doesn't cry when I drop him off. Last week when we were in Houston he seemed to sense that the new nursery I took him to was the same setup as the one he is familiar with, and that I would come and pick him up at the end of the meetings. He readily started participating in the play activities and did not seem upset when I left.
The men we rented the pasture to started mowing and cutting and baling the hay last week. The pasture looks really good when it is new mown.
There is also mowing to be done in the yard. Henry sits strapped to my lap while I mow the flat area with the riding mower. He seems to enjoy sitting there, and acts like he thinks he is driving the thing. I tried carrying him in the snuggli or a backpack while I mow the ditch with a push mower, but I couldn't do it. It is hard enough to push the mower without carrying him, I couldn't do it while toting him. So I have to wait until he is asleep to finish up with the push mower.
