Last Friday I had to take off work--the children's center was closed for in-service. Henry was with me out in the yard (I just bought a weed eater/edger) and I noticed these little birds at the bottom of the birdhouse.

There are twelve dwellings in the house. I guess the birds jumped out and fell to the ground. I guess they were trying to learn to fly.

I was trying to be inconspicuous so the cats wouldn't notice the baby birds on the ground, but Henry kept causing a commotion. The wind was bothering him and he wanted to be picked up. We moved away from the birds, and the last I saw the cats were still unaware of them.

Henry watched while I learned to use the edger side of the weed eater. It has rained a lot here so the jasmine has grown quite a bit.

This is an open well in the front yard. I've still got to figure out how to cover it up before Henry takes notice of it. Luckily it has bushes around most of it. But Henry will soon learn how to pull something like a box or a chair up to it and look down inside.

I usually sit in the porch swing with Henry right after I get home, and open the mail. I've got to figure out how to protect Henry from chiggers. He is not rolling around in the grass, but I guess when he walks he is close enough to the ground and a couple of times he has looked like he had been in poison ivy. I've been told to spray him with Off! to stop the bugs--I'll try that next time. In the meantime I am rubbing him with calomine lotion to stop the bugs and benadryl lotion to stop the itch.

Henry continues to imimtate whatever I do. When I got out the door one of the cats is often there trying to dash inside. I lightly nudge it away with my foot and make a hissing noise to prevent it from entering. Henry now does the same thing when he goes outside and sees a cat.
When I put Henry to bed I turn on a humidifier and I turn on a CD of Celtic music. The CD player is old and won't play the beginning of a CD, so I have to set it on at least track 4. This is also the only time I give Henry a bottle, so he does look forward to going to sleep with the music and the pleasant hum of the humidifier and the bottle. Last week he turned on the humidifier (which isn't hard) but then he went over to the CD player and turned it on and pushed it to track 4, then went over and stood by the bed waiting for me to put him in. I have no idea how he figured out how to operate the CD player and set it like that.
